UNPRECEDENTED EXPANSION STRATEGY. Six-figure investment in infrastructure heralds bright future for McGoff & Vickers (Fire & Security Systems).

A 10m building services firm that is one of the longest established companies on Merseyside has set out its strategy for expansion following a successful transition period in which it has made a substantial investment in its infrastructure.

David Poole, director of Bootle-based McGoff & Vickers (Fire & Security Systems) that also has offices in London, believes concentration on the company's core competencies will be key.

He said: "We have invested heavily in employees and marketing but not before we put all the procedures in place to support our expansion plans."

Central to McGoff & Vickers (Fire & Security Systems) strategy is winning new business with clients that "are having to adapt to the demands placed upon them by technology and new environmental considerations such as energy conservation and emissions" adds Poole.

The company that began life from humble beginnings in 1925 and now employs more than 100 personnel has itself been adapting to advancements in technology as Poole explained.

"All of our security engineers now use PDAs which has bolstered our customer service levels to new heights. It's a far cry from the way we used to do things when we began in 1925"

McGoff & Vickers (Fire & Security Systems) has also adopted a uniform brand approach across their different service sectors to re-affirm their one stop shop status as leading building services suppliers in the North West. "We already act as principal contractor for many clients," maintains Poole.

Poole believes this will enable the company to capitalise on cross selling with new and existing clients that include Pierhead Housing Association, Edge Hill University, the Office of National Statistics, LJMU, 20-20, Merseyside Police Authority, Anchor Housing, LHT, HSBC and Merseycare NHS.

Indeed, health care had previously been a London specialism within a company portfolio that included the Royal Free Hospital, the Royal Marsden Hospital, and BUPA. The plan now is believed to be to expand this sector in the North West.
